Internal Medicine & Pediatrics

I consider the practice of medicine a privilege and a calling. I grew up in a medical home. My father was an internist in a small town. He was a man of commitment, compassion and sacrifice. As a result, I pursued a career in biomedical engineering. However, Providence would not suffer this alteration of call and I entered VCU medical school in 1989 and, after graduation, continued my training in Internal Medicine (Adult Medicine) and Pediatrics.

Initially, I pursued the practice of Emergency Medicine. Assuring my wife this was only temporary, I was with the HCA health system in metro Richmond for 10 years prior to starting Rockwell Physicians in 2007 in response to seeing much in the emergency room that would be better addressed (or prevented) in the primary care setting. The goal was to create a comfortable, friendly neighborhood feel. I have been able to care for multigenerational families from newborns to grandparents (and even great grandparents). This has been the most fulfilling aspect of my work.

I am married to an amazing woman and have four, essentially grown, kids. Our journey together has included home schooling all four of the children through high school and watching them succeed in college, careers and marriage; staying active in the local church and some short-term mission work.

When I am not pursuing medicine, I struggle to make sense of the business of medicine, enjoy my family, reading (especially Christian apologetics) and being amazed with life.

Medical Assistant

I started off at Rockwell Physicians as a student, and was fortunate enough to be hired immediately following my externship in 2013. I graduated from ECPI University in VA, where I earned my Applied Science degree in Medical Assisting. Beyond attending to the clinical needs of our patients, I always try to care for each patient as a whole. I value the time spent with patients, which is what fuels my excitement for my role in Rockwell Direct as your Medical Technician. I aim to help each patient feel comfortable and confident in knowing your total health is our priority.

Outside of work, my time is spent laughing, exercising, and going on adventures both big and small with my beautiful children and husband.

Receptionist

I am the Receptionist and Referral Coordinator for Rockwell Direct, and have been with Rockwell Physicians since 2012. I love being a kind voice that expresses care and sympathy to patients. I love building connections and relationships with our patients and helping them feel seen and heard, and not like a number in a system. I bring patience, compassion, understanding, and years of experience in scheduling, insurance verification, and referral processing. I am very excited to be a part of Rockwell Direct, with its commitment to consistent and thorough patient-centered care, and goal to bring health and wellness to our patients.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy painting, gardening, horticultural therapy, running, and spending time with family and friends. I am actively involved in my house church, Identity House, and a foster care ministry in Chesterfield County. My passion is to help individuals who have experienced rejection, neglect, and trauma to find deep hope, healing, and family.

Membership Coordinator &
Office Administrator

I have worked with Rockwell Physicians since 2015 as the office administrator, and am passionate about our employees and our patients. I am so thankful to work at a practice that makes patient care and experience a top priority. The opportunity to also serve as Membership Coordinator with Rockwell Direct brings front and center what I value most, which is putting the needs of our patients first. We want you to know that you are heard, valued and a huge driving force behind our desire to make your care our priority.

Outside of Rockwell Physicians, I get to pastor a church with my husband, mentor other women, and build and empower leaders to serve in a meaningful way in our community. My husband and I have been married for 25 years and he is still my favorite, along with our awesome four kids, two kids-in-law and five beautiful grandbaby boys! For fun I love to decorate, feed people, go on fun dates with my husband and play with my grandbabies.
